The last thing Bach wanted was a woman. Well, a woman who stuck around for longer than the main act between the sheets. He wasn't expecting Harley -- and Harley wasn't exactly expecting Bach, either.
I truly enjoyed every single moment of this story. I loved watching as Bach found a reason to trust a woman, and I loved watching as Harley saw past the egotistical facade that Bach put up. With Dylan playing the big sand box overseas, Harley began to question things and Dylan's pushing her to his best friend leaves her a little uneasy. But she also grew closer to Dylan's friend.
Bach's past has some heartbreaking moments, and watching as this scarred man allowed Harley in... those were my favorite moments. These two were two broken parts to a whole, and together they were a beautiful picture.
There were moments that Bach's egotistical nature came across as annoying, but as we got to know him more, they were really quite comical (such as his thoughts of, whatever they were laughing at couldn't be that funny because he didn't say it).
From the very moment I had this book in my possession, I had to fight to put it down -- I had other commitments that came first, afterall. But I was continuously drawn back to this story. I absolutely cannot wait to see what else Ms. Vanterpool will bring to Crystal Gulf!
